DETAILED TREATMENT GUIDE

Know what to expect.

These are general planning ranges. Your consultation determines which treatment, intensity and schedule may be appropriate for you.

WHO IT MAY SUIT
  • Unwanted dark facial or body hair
  • Recurring ingrown hairs or shaving irritation
  • PCOS-related hair growth as part of an ongoing management plan
  • Clients seeking long-term hair reduction rather than guaranteed complete removal
WHAT HAPPENS

The treatment area is assessed for skin tone, hair colour and density, tanning, medications, tattoos and relevant health history. Protective eyewear is used. Controlled light energy targets pigment in active hair follicles, often with a cooling system for comfort and surface protection.

EXPECTED DOWNTIME

Most people return to normal activities immediately. Redness, warmth or small follicular bumps can resemble mild sunburn and usually settle within a few hours to 1–2 days. Blistering, pigment change or prolonged irritation is uncommon but requires prompt follow-up.

TYPICAL COURSE

Because hair grows in cycles, repeated sessions are required. A typical initial course is around 6–10 treatments, often spaced 4–8 weeks apart depending on area and growth pattern. Hormonal hair growth may require additional sessions and periodic maintenance.

BEFORE YOUR VISIT

Preparation.

  • Avoid tanning and self-tanner before treatment
  • Do not wax, tweeze or thread the area for several weeks; shaving is usually allowed
  • Shave as directed, commonly the day before or day of treatment
  • Disclose medications, isotretinoin history, pregnancy, cold sores, tattoos and pigment changes

AFTER TREATMENT

Aftercare.

  • Cool the area if needed and use gentle fragrance-free products
  • Avoid hot showers, saunas, vigorous exercise and friction for the advised period
  • Use sunscreen on exposed treated skin
  • Do not wax or pluck between sessions

SUITABILITY & SAFETY

Limitations.

  • Laser is less responsive to blonde, grey, white or red hair with little pigment
  • Tanned or sunburned skin increases risk and may require postponement
  • Some medications, skin conditions, pregnancy or active infection may make treatment unsuitable
  • Tattooed areas and suspicious lesions are avoided; settings must be individualized for skin tone

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions, answered.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

The appropriate description is long-term or permanent hair reduction. Regrowth can occur, especially with hormonal change.

Why are several sessions needed?

Laser is most effective during an active hair-growth phase, and not all follicles are in that phase at the same time.

Can all skin tones be treated?

Many skin tones can be treated when the device, wavelength and settings are appropriate. An assessment and often a test spot are important.
