Clear, practical answers about consultations, treatment planning, downtime, safety and visiting our Brampton clinic.

01

Consultations & choosing a treatment

Start here if you are new to medical aesthetics or unsure what to book.

I am a new client. Do I need to know which treatment to book?

No. New clients can request a complimentary consultation. We begin by discussing your concerns, skin history, routine, sensitivities, medications and goals, then explain suitable options and realistic next steps.

What happens during a personalized skin consultation in Brampton?

Your provider reviews your current routine and relevant history, examines the areas you are concerned about and discusses what may be contributing to the issue. You receive a prioritized plan that may include home care, in-clinic treatment or medical referral when appropriate.

Do I have to receive treatment on the day of my consultation?

No. A consultation is a planning visit and there is no obligation to proceed. Some simple treatments may be possible on the same day when time and suitability allow; procedures requiring preparation, testing or detailed consent are booked separately.

What should I bring to my first skin consultation?

Bring your current skincare products or photos of their labels, a list of medications and supplements, known allergies and details of recent aesthetic procedures. Photos showing how the concern changes over time can also be useful.

How quickly will the clinic respond to my request?

The team typically calls or emails within two business days. Appointment requests are not confirmed until you receive that follow-up from Radiance.

02

Acne, pigmentation & sensitive skin

Questions about common concerns and how treatment plans are staged.

Can a facial clear hormonal or cystic acne?

A facial may reduce congestion or calm visible inflammation, but hormonal and cystic acne usually require ongoing management. Persistent, painful, sudden or scarring acne may also need assessment by a family physician or dermatologist.

How long does an acne treatment plan usually take?

Acne is generally assessed over weeks rather than days. Many plans are reviewed after about 8–12 weeks, with clinic visits often spaced several weeks apart. Timing depends on acne type, tolerance, hormones, home-care consistency and whether medical treatment is also needed.

Should active acne be controlled before microneedling acne scars?

Usually, yes. Microneedling is generally postponed over active inflamed or infected acne. Once breakouts are stable, your provider can assess scar type and whether microneedling or a different combination approach is appropriate.

Can melasma be permanently removed?

Melasma can often be improved but commonly recurs because light, heat, hormones and inflammation can reactivate pigment. Daily sun protection, gentle skin care and maintenance are central to long-term management.

Can pigmentation treatments make dark spots worse?

Irritation and excess heat can trigger post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, particularly in deeper skin tones. Conservative treatment selection, skin preparation, careful aftercare and consistent sunscreen help reduce this risk.

Can Radiance treat eczema or very sensitive skin?

Radiance offers consultation and barrier-focused support for sensitive or eczema-prone skin. Active, severe, infected or undiagnosed rashes may need medical assessment before cosmetic treatment.

03

Microneedling, tightening & downtime

What recovery and gradual results can realistically look like.

How much downtime should I expect after microneedling?

A reasonable average is about 2–5 days of redness, warmth, tightness, mild swelling or light flaking. Deeper or radiofrequency-assisted treatments may involve longer recovery. Your provider will give a procedure-specific estimate before treatment.

How many microneedling treatments are typically needed for acne scars?

A common starting course is approximately 3–6 sessions spaced around 4–6 weeks apart, followed by reassessment. Scar depth and type matter, and no procedure can completely erase scarring.

When do microneedling results appear?

Initial redness settles first. Collagen-related improvements develop gradually over several weeks to months, so photographs taken under consistent lighting are more useful than judging the skin day to day.

Is there downtime after non-surgical skin tightening?

Many non-invasive tightening treatments have little to no downtime. Temporary warmth, redness, tenderness or swelling may last several hours and occasionally 1–3 days. Recovery varies by device and intensity.

Can non-surgical skin tightening replace a facelift?

No. Energy-based tightening can produce subtle to moderate improvement in skin quality and firmness, but it cannot reproduce surgical lifting. Results develop gradually as collagen remodels.

04

Laser hair removal

Preparation, suitability and what long-term reduction means.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

The accurate expectation is long-term or permanent hair reduction, not guaranteed complete removal. Some hair can regrow, and hormonal changes such as PCOS may make maintenance treatments more likely.

Why does laser hair removal require several sessions?

Laser responds best to follicles in an active growth phase, but not all hairs are in that phase at once. A typical initial course is around 6–10 sessions, often spaced 4–8 weeks apart depending on the area and growth pattern.

Can laser hair removal work on all skin tones?

Many skin tones can be treated when the device, wavelength and settings are appropriate. A consultation, medical-history review and sometimes a test spot help determine suitability. Tanned or sunburned skin may require postponement.

What should I avoid before laser hair removal?

Avoid tanning and self-tanner. Do not wax, thread or tweeze the area for the period specified by the clinic because the follicle needs to remain present. Shaving is generally allowed and is usually requested shortly before treatment.

Does laser hair removal work on blonde, grey, white or red hair?

Laser relies on pigment in the hair, so hair with very little pigment tends to respond poorly. Your provider can assess the hair and explain whether treatment is likely to be worthwhile.

What downtime is typical after laser hair removal?

Most clients return to normal activity immediately. Mild warmth, redness or follicular bumps often settle within a few hours to 1–2 days. Prolonged pain, blistering or pigment change should be reported promptly.

05

Safety, cost & visiting Radiance

Practical details that help you feel prepared before requesting an appointment.

Who may not be suitable for a medical aesthetic treatment?

Suitability varies by procedure. Pregnancy, certain medications, recent isotretinoin, active infection, sunburn, open wounds, impaired healing, implanted devices or a history of abnormal scarring can affect treatment choices. Disclose your complete history during consultation.

Can cosmetic treatments diagnose a medical skin condition?

No. Aesthetic consultation does not replace medical diagnosis. Suspicious or changing lesions, severe disease, sudden symptoms or concerns outside aesthetic scope should be assessed by a physician or dermatologist.

How much do treatments cost?

Cost depends on the concern, treatment area, technology, number of sessions and home-care needs. Radiance provides a personalized recommendation and pricing before treatment so you can decide without assuming every suggested step must happen at once.
